HEY HO MELAKA: WALLS OF ART CRIMES
Written on Jun 01, 2008 // Musing. We just can’t get enough of Melaka, can we? As if we’re still jaunting on the psychedelic remnants of magic mushrooms. Set asides the infamously sharp maroon Stadhuys building and countless rows of technicolor painted heritages, it is not too much to depict the city as an ardent city of art. And this is when, and if you’re an avid art lover plus the love of blending in some rules breaking menace, then you won’t be surprised that you’re flaunted by some public art crimes along Melaka street.
Here, i quivered in my sneakers for some of the well known walls of Melaka that were mischieviously defaced with modern archives of aerosol cartoons and funky art forms.
If you by any chance step around the famous Nadeje Patisserie Cafe in Plaza Mahkota Melaka, you should be able to spot these two art walls somewhere in the middle pathway just one shop away from the Cafe with ease.

The famous Nadeje Cafe which makes you crave for their Mille Crepe Cake? (I shall talk about this in the next coming post)

The second graffiti wall that’s worth you visiting was much harder for me to find it, JASONMUMBLES and i were scouting and scouting and keep on scouting around Jonker Street until we almost gave up. But thanks to some informative resources from another friend of JASONMUMBLES, we finally found it two hours before my departure!
And gosh, you have no idea how joyful i was when seeing this wall, I’m been wanting to take pictures with this particular cute wall for ageeeeeeeeeeeeees!
WOOHOO!
Why is it so special to me? Well, that’s because this particular graffiti cartoon on the wall (cute aint it?) was drawn by none other than one of my favourites Kuala Lumpur artist ORKIBAL! (Check out his Deviantart here!)
And i’m gonna make it easy here for those that wants to visit the wall, it’s located in JONKERS STREET, somewhere near the JONKER DESSERT(served with famous BABA CENDOL) and GEOGRAPHER CAFE right opposite, and if you could just slide along the side wall of Geographer Cafe right till the end of the T-junction, you should be able to spot it quite happily!
So now you know what to visit when you’re cruising down to Melaka!

Splashmilk is Mikel, an engineer (that doesnt quite epitomize his presentation),
a photography amateur (because he just want to shoot Angelina Jolie... naked), an insanely quirky graphic designer.
Your pure evil let loosed around Kuala Lumpur urbanscapes, Malaysia.
